Menstruation
Menstruation is the shedding of the uterine lining. If conception does not occur the corpus luteum
(remainder of follicle after ovulation) discontinues to produce progesterone and starts to degenerate.
Without the presence of progesterone the uterine lining will start to shed and menstruation will start.
A typical menstruation will last between 3 and 7 days but for some women it may be shorter or longer.
The length and volume of flow varies from woman to woman and you will learn what is normal for you.
If you experience a cycle which is abnormal for you it is best to seek your doctor's advice.
